MetaJournal processes limited message data via automated systems to detect harmful or illegal content. This processing is performed under: • Legitimate Interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) for platform safety • Legal Obligation (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)) for mandatory reporting • CCPA "Security and Fraud Prevention" exemption • U.S. safety and platform liability protections under Section 230 What is scanned: • Text messages in private chats and group channels • Shared links and attachments What is NOT scanned: • Message metadata for advertising • User data for profiling or marketing • Content unrelated to safety signals Data Access: Only authorized Safety Team members can access content flagged by the automated system. Data Retention: Safety-related flags are stored for up to 90 days, then automatically deleted unless part of an active investigation or legal requirement. User Rights: • Access flagged content • Request explanation of automated decisions • Appeal account restrictions • Data portability for safety logs (upon request)
